Welcome to the Catholic Feminist, a corner of the internet for Jesus-loving women looking to be inspired, informed, and intentional.

"The Church sees in the face of women the reflection of a beauty which mirrors the loftiest sentiments of which the human heart is capable: the self-offering totality of love; the strength that is capable of bearing the greatest sorrows; limitless fidelity and tireless devotion to work; the ability to combine penetrating intuition with words of support and encouragement." - Saint John Paul the Great

We believe:

IN GOD

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Aaamen. (#ApostlesCreed, yo.)

IN THE CHURCH

The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus. (Boom.) We believe The Catholic Church is a perfect institution made up of imperfect people, striving to lead the flock closer to Heaven. We believe Pope Francis is the bomb. We believe getting out of bed to go to Sunday Mass is hard, but vital. We love the fact that the Church is the number one source of worldwide relief for the poor and suffering, and we sometimes overbook ourselves with Bible studies, choir practice, women's night, and all that jazz. We believe a Church community is not an added bonus, but a necessary component of faith.

IN OURSELVES

We want to know that we belong in the world as we truly are: formidable, humble, and true. We know that Catholic women aren't a cookie-cutter stereotype; we can look a thousand different ways, all of which can point to Heaven. Some of us are tough + trying, some are a touch more meek + mild. Some rock out at dance parties and some are more of the scrapbook-and-wine type. Some are married, some are single, some wear habits, and some have a bad habit of Facebook stalking. But we're all women made in the image of God, fighting for His Kingdom. Usually with coffee.

The Catholic Feminist is a popular newsletter featuring essays, guest posts, article recommendations, conversations, and more.

What began as a top-ranked podcast hosted by Claire Swinarski is now so much more. It’s also books, guided pilgrimages, and above all else, a way of being. It’s a path set out for women who are seeking to embrace Jesus + justice. It’s not a box or a label—it’s a Christ-centered journey. To be a Catholic feminist is to believe in the equality of the dignity of men + women. To celebrate our differences, embrace our missions, and throw away stupid stereotypes in order to live out the fullness of the Gospel.
